"Out of the Box" childrens festival

We decided to check out the annual childrens festival here in Brisbane, it was a really fun day. There were quite a few entertainers wandering around the place, acrobats, performance artists etc.

These were all made from recycled goods, and my favourite was this amazing snail!!

The boys favourite by far was "Amococo" which was a huge tent-like structure, which let in the natural light.

It was just amazing inside... described as "somewhere between a womb and a cathedral"

Being in there was almost trancelike, there were pods to lie down in and just soak up the ambience.

As the huge "Wheel of Brisbane" was just there, we decided to take a ride.

Great views of brisbane.

A very enjoyable and exhausting day!!

  1. I think I would have wanted to curl up in one of the pods and stay all day long. Beautiful!

  2. That tent/tube/pod looking thing appear to be amazing!!!!

    Love the pictures!

  3. Wow...that looks like the MOST amazing festival ever!!!! Love your blog!!
    maureen :)

  4. The Amcoco WAS amazing, and I also searched for it on You Tube, and some really lovely videos of it came up, one showing it set up *somewhere* around the world, covered in snow, footage of people fast asleep in it, and one with a guy wandering around in it playing a sax, and a woman doing a storytelling session as well. It really is an awesome concept, and I'll be sure to visit it again whenever I can! Apparently every visit is quite different depending on the intensity of the sun, time of the day, and direction of the sun. You get different colour combos... It's quite fascinating!!

  5. The tent is fabulous, nice blog.
